Our Sensory box!

So I posted earlier today about what is going on with Drew. I want to follow up with our awesome sensory "angry" box that we are using with him, thanks to my amazing mom.

I have been reading up on sensory issues, and honestly, everyone has them. (read more here, and here) it just becomes when the issue (s) with sensory takes control over your power to deal with it. We also feel that Drew may have a feeling of floating, so we have been doing Heavy Work with him. Basically we will fill up his special box that he sits in with things and he will push it around the house. Or I will "squish" him between two pillows when he is in one of his major fits. I also have been hugging him hard, and Nayt and I are learning that it calms him down when we squish him in a hug between us. It's like he needs that hard pressure to calm down. We also have a weighted rice necklace made of a sock. (right now it is sitting on his lap while he watched his 30 minutes of tv.)

I can't tell if this stuff it working yet, it's only been a week, but I do know that both kids LOVE our sensory box. And the best part, it is full of everyday things you can find at the dollar store (score for cheap!)
. I pull it out once in the morning, put Drew in his box, and let him "swim" with it all. Alynn will play right along with him. I'll do it again in the evening and any time he is acting all crazy, upset, anxious or mad.

Totally recommend it for everyone, since there is no such thing as to much sensory in kids.

So, on to our box toys!

A dish brush
Texture ball

our rice sock necklace

A luffa
A rubber snake

A soft squishy ball

A squishy rubbery hedgehog

Pretty sure this is a morbid dog toy, but it is a hard plastic type stuff animal the squeaks.

A pool noodle Alynn loves to eat

a soft micro fiber cleaning cloth
a car washing sponge

a hard bristle sponge

a super soft and squishy little toy

a hard soap holder

One of those bath mitts

A rubber ball
Not going to lie, not 100% sure what this is, but it is a hard hard rubber.

a make up remover pad

foundation sponges
Drew chilling in his "box." He loves this thing.
Alynn tested and approved!
