We started off by playing a round of disk golf in la grande, and we were going to stop in Pendleton too, but the stupid icky weather stopped us. So we continued on through the ugly grey clouds to portland. We werent able to stop at the falls because of rain :( but we did stop at my old stomping ground at the streets of tanasborn, and i was quite shocked to see that Zales no longer calls the Streets home. We stayed friday night at my granny's, and introduced Drew to Red Angus Cattle. he wasnt so sure what to think, and he really hated the moo-ing! lol it was kinda funny. After an amazing literly home grown dinner, we hit the sack.
Saturday started extremely early, and we were on the road to Tillamook before 8am! Our first stop was the cheese factory, where we got to see them making huge blocks of cheese. (we really wanted one of those 20lbs blocks!) then we hit thier outlet store, and spent just about 70 bucks on cheese! :) It was amazing. Our next stop was the Tillamook Air Museum, a huge WWII Blimp hanger, it now houses just about 50 airplanes. Pretty sure we posed with each one! 300 pictures later we were on the road again, headed up hwy 101 to seaside. The weather was just about picture perfect for late october, and the coast was so clear and beautiful. I forget how much i love the ocean until i see it again. the miles and miles of tourquoise blue water, the jagged rocks, the sandy beaches, the crashing white waves, the salty air, the noise of the waves as they hit the sand, all of it just speaks to me. I could spend my whole life on the beach and still find something to marvel at! In Seaside we hit up the carasell mall and of course we posed for pictures at the Mad hatter. We then found a bounty of sweets at the CandyMan. (where i actully won when i spun the wheel so now my name is up on thier wall!) I was actually suprised at how busy seaside was, being that it was the off season, but it was probly one of the last nice days of the year, so who could blame people?
Then up the coast again we went. Just outside of Astoria, we crossed the Astoria Bridge, a 4 1/2 mile bride spanning the gulf towards Washington. Crossing it, it looks like you are about to drive right into the water, it was pretty cool. We were going to go to hoquiam, but the day was getting late, so we opt for Disk Golf in Elma instead. After getting lost, we finally found the course, and even though the guy who owned and ran it was rather on the odd side, it was a beautiful area. Nayt didnt play his best game, but it was still nice to be out of the darn car! We finally made it to my mom's about 7:30, and dinner was waiting for us. It was so good to see my family. Nick and katie are growing up so quicky, i can barely keep up!
On sunday we all trooped down to the pier on the pudget sound, in seattle and explored the aquarium. The Seattle Aquarium isnt the biggest out there, but it is a nice little place, and all of thier exibits are lovely. We watched them feed the fish (with a scuba diver, very cool) and the octopus. We got to touch sea spounges and star fish. They had a beautiful Salt water setup, i just love all those bright saltwater fish! Then we got to see the seals and otters. It was a very nice time, and drew enjoyed it too, for the most part. he loves his fishies!! after a typical seattle fish and chip lunch We split up from my parents, and nayt drew and I explored the rest of pier, all the shops and goodies. Then we got seriously lost on the way to Aunt Carols for dinner!
We had planned on leaving mom's on monday, but desided to stay another day, so mom and dad babysat drew so nayt and i could go on a breakfast date. it was so nice to just go out him and i! Breakfast was expensive but amazing. Then the boys took drew to Auburn where nayt got me a set of Disks, while mom and i went clothes shopping. I found a few winter shirts and a bumper for drew's crib, all for under 13 bucks! i felt very good about it all! We went to nick and kate's school where katie showed off "her baby" as she calls drew, and my son was surounded by the whole JV volleyball team. he was in baby boy heaven! lol That night we tried to teach mom and dad to play disk golf on the worst course ever! Pizza and the Proposel finshed off the night for us.
Tuesday we were on the road by 5:30am, trying to beat nayt's mom home from her first job. We had smooth sailing (and snow) until just outside of Prosser, where our son thought it would be fun to scream his head off, so we pulled over on the side of the highway to try to calm him down! I finally ended up having to crawl in the back of our car to play with him. We got to Dayton around 11, and ended up having to wait for his mom to get off work, she came in, hugged us, put drew in a saucer and left to get her makeup on, exept for when Stacy came over, she played with Clarabelle. after she left, we hung out with stacy, and just relaxed.
Wensday we slept in, and then went to look at Kirk's race horses, saw stacy, then at 2 we headed into Walla Walla for a round of disk golf. it all went smoothly until stupid me, i threw my driver (which is light yellow) right into the marsh with thigh deep grass. An hour later both of us were pretty pissy when i found it. i think we are getting me a different color...
We went to hastings, got our playboy and head back to dayton, where we pretty much didnt go anything else all night.
Thursday was supose to be the day Stacy had Julianne, but the doctor canceled her induction at the last minute, so we hung out with mom, until about one when she practically pushed us out the door, loaded our cat and we went and said bye to stacy and belle. we made a stop in walla walla at the bi-mart to see nayts old co-workers and then to little ceasars for lunch. In la grande, we swung into wally world to get Tiki her collar and dishes, then finally at 6:30 we were home. Snow was on the ground, and the house was freezing but it was so nice to be home. And you know, this is really starting to feel like home. I love it here. I love my house, my bed and my shower. Our home sweet home....
